The Morongo Basin Cultural Arts Council launched the Open Studios Art Tours in 2001 to connect artists directly with art lovers. Today it is one of the most popular annual events in the area attracting an estimated 8,000 locals and visitors per year and has expanded into a two weekend event that takes you from morning into evening.
The self-guided tour gives 100+ artists who live and work in the communities linked by the 50-mile stretch of Hwy 62 a chance to welcome art admirers and buyers into their studios to experience first-hand the artistic diversity so prevalent in the area. Flanked by the Joshua Tree National Park, this region is an attraction in itself, providing a truly unique experience for the visitor as they wind their way down dirt roads and scenic byways to visit studios and galleries while on the tour.
The event showcases fine art and fine crafts in a broad range of media and styles, and includes musical and theatrical happenings that further expand this cultural event into one that is sure to capture the interest of visitors, regardless of their age or art preference.
October 25th & 26th – East End (Joshua Tree to Twentynine Palms)
November 1st & 2nd – West End (Morongo Valley to Joshua Tree)

Join the Night Sky and the Stars that shine there for a spooky night of Dancing and Fun while we spin the old Vinyl LP’s from your collection!
We will be wearing Costumes and carving Pumpkins and Enjoying Libation together as we celebrate this wonderful time of the year!
Party Begins at 7:00 PM and goes till Midnight.
Astronomy will be a big part of the event with views of great space scenes both live and from NASA.
Food is planned and Camping is available at a discounted price for those wishing to stay late.
Music performed by “The Luminators” will be our entertainment for the evening.
Beer and Wine will be available thanks to the Joshua Tree Chamber of Commerce.
Five dollars is asked as a donation to help support the astronomy efforts of scdva.org
